Premier League: Arsenal seize top spot with convincing away win over Brighton

Arsenal surged to the top of the Premier League table with a dominant away victory against Brighton, maintaining their pursuit of their first league title in two decades.

The win edges the Gunners edged ahead of title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

Bukayo Saka, returning from a minor injury, made a big impact by converting a first-half penalty, while Kai Havertz extended Arsenal’s lead after the hour mark with a well-taken goal.

The victory was Arsenal’s tenth win in their last eleven league games as the title race heats up.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told UK state media the team’s maturity and chemistry gave him confidence in their ability to maintain momentum.

Meanwhile, Brighton’s hopes of European football suffered a setback with the defeat. They now face an uphill battle to secure a top-six finish as they look to bounce back in their next Premier League fixture against Burnley.
