Zoi Sadowski-Synnott delivered a crucial final performance to win silver in the women’s snowboard slopestyle at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, securing New Zealand’s third medal of the Games and becoming both the country’s most successful Winter Olympian and the world’s most decorated Olympic snowboarder.
After leading qualifying but sitting fourth heading into her final run, the 24-year-old produced a clean, high-scoring run of 87.48 to jump into second place, just 0.35 points behind Japan’s gold medallist Mari Fukada.
Sadowski-Synnott described the moment as “pretty insane,” crediting her long-time support team, family, and Kiwi underdog spirit, while the final itself followed a weather delay after heavy snow forced postponement earlier in the week.
