Salah fires Egypt into 2026 World Cup

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored twice as Egypt sealed qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Djibouti, securing top spot in Group A with a game to spare.

Ibrahim Adel opened the scoring before Salah struck twice, including a superb late lob, to make Egypt the third African nation to qualify after Morocco and Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Ghana moved to the brink of qualification with a dominant 5-0 win over the Central African Republic, featuring a brace and two assists from Jordan Ayew. Burkina Faso and Madagascar also kept their qualification hopes alive, while Cape Verde missed their chance to confirm a maiden World Cup berth after drawing 3-3 with Libya.
