Sorensen-McGee wins World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year

Black Ferns winger Braxton Sorensen-McGee has been crowned World Rugby Women’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year after a standout debut season that saw the 18-year-old score 14 tries in eight Tests, including 11 at the World Cup with back-to-back hat-tricks against Japan and Ireland.

Announced after England’s 33-13 World Cup final win over Canada, Sorensen-McGee beat teammate Jorja Miller and Fiji’s Josifini Neihamu to the award, with NZ Rugby CEO Mark Robinson praising her immense impact and skills that have lit up the women’s game.
