The All Blacks suffered their heaviest loss in history, falling 10-43 to South Africa in Wellington as the Springboks retained the Freedom Cup.
After debutant Leroy Carter’s early try and a Damian McKenzie penalty gave New Zealand a 10-7 halftime lead, Cheslin Kolbe’s double and a dominant second-half performance saw South Africa run in six tries. The All Blacks were outplayed across the park, with the Springboks piling on 36 unanswered points to seal a record-breaking victory.
