Gary Stead will step down as New Zealand’s limited-overs head coach at the end of his contract in June and is currently reflecting on whether to continue in his role with the Test team.
The 53-year-old, who has led the Black Caps since 2018, guided them to notable achievements including the 2019 World Cup final, the 2021 T20 World Cup final, and victory in the inaugural World Test Championship.
After a successful home series against Pakistan, Stead expressed a desire to take a break from touring life and reassess his coaching future, noting he may not continue across all formats.
Rob Walter, former South Africa coach, is reportedly in contention to replace him for the white-ball roles.
