The New Zealand Warriors delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Wests Tigers 34–14 in their Round 19 clash at Go Media Stadium in Auckland.
Despite the Warriors ultimately running away with the win, it was the Tigers who struck first. Jerel Skelton crossed early for the visitors, giving them a dream start and momentarily putting the Warriors on the back foot.
But the home side quickly found their rhythm. Rocco Berry celebrated his first game at Mount Smart with a try, showcasing impressive footwork and power. The momentum began to shift firmly in the Warriors’ favour with precise passing and strong attacking structure.
Adam Doueihi briefly reignited hope for the Tigers with a powerful solo effort, bulldozing over the line in a show of strength. However, the Warriors’ offense proved relentless. A beautifully constructed play ended with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck diving over, and Chanel Harris-Tavita added more damage with a controversial yet confirmed grounding after a high kick ricochet.
Taine Tuaupiki dazzled with elusive footwork and speed, leaving defenders grasping at air as he set up another scoring opportunity late in the game.
The final whistle blew with the Warriors sealing a dominant 34–14 victory, much to the delight of the home crowd. The win further solidifies their push for a top-eight finish, while the Tigers continue to struggle for consistency this season.
