Warriors’ top-four hopes wobble after costly loss to Broncos

The New Zealand Warriors suffered a 26-12 defeat to the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, marking their first back-to-back losses of the NRL season and placing their top-four position under threat.

Injuries to key players Luke Metcalf and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad compounded the blow, with both going down during a match dominated early by Brisbane.

The Broncos surged to an 18-0 lead by halftime, taking advantage of Warriors errors and discipline issues, and while tries from Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Leka Halasima gave the visitors hope, a second try to Gehamat Shibasaki sealed the result.

Despite the loss, the Warriors remain fourth and will collect two bye points next week, but face a tight ladder race in the closing rounds.
