Women’s RWC: Black Ferns, Canada advance as England, France, Ireland and Scotland battle for semi spots

The Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-final line-up is taking shape after contrasting quarter-final victories.

Reigning champions New Zealand overcame an early scare against South Africa, pulling away in the second half to win 46-17, while Canada crushed Australia 46-5 with a dominant five-try first half.

The Black Ferns will now meet Canada in Bristol, in what promises to be a tight battle between the world’s second- and third-ranked sides.

Elsewhere, top-ranked England face Scotland, who last beat them in 1999, while France and Ireland prepare for a fiercely competitive showdown after splitting recent contests. The outcomes will decide who joins New Zealand and Canada in the last four.
