Lindy Li, a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser, slammed the notion of Vice President Kamala Harris staging a political comeback, calling it a “delusion” after the party’s record losses in the 2024 election.
Speaking on America’s Newsroom Li dismissed Harris’ rumoured plans to run for California governor in 2026 or for president in 2028, citing a decisive defeat in swing states and criticising Democratic failures on issues like border policy.
Li’s remarks follow DNC Executive Board member Yvette Lewis’ endorsement of Harris as a “phenomenal candidate,” despite widespread discontent with her performance. Li also lamented the Democratic Party’s focus on woke “cultural issues”, which she argued alienated voters from the party’s core economic concerns.
Li’s comments highlight growing frustrations within the party as Democrats reflect on their electoral setbacks and assess their messaging strategies.
Blaming “out of touch” policies, Li said it was crucial the party focused on “bread and butter issues” like economic stability and border security to reconnect with voters.
Harris’ future in politics remains uncertain, with former aides suggesting she has limited time to decide her next steps, while some allies believe she could use the interim to preserve her political relationships and “remain visible”.
