German police have arrested a 49-year-old man with alleged neo-Nazi connections accused of running a darknet platform that called for the assassination of politicians, including former chancellors Angela Merkel and Olaf Scholz.
Identified as Martin S., the dual German-Polish citizen was detained in Dortmund and placed in pre-trial custody on charges of financing terrorism and promoting violence against the state.
Authorities say he published “death sentences,” personal details, and bomb-making instructions while soliciting cryptocurrency donations as bounties for targeted killings.
Prosecutors allege that the website, active since at least June 2025, was filled with extremist and conspiracy-laden content. Reports suggest the suspect has ties to Germany’s far-right scene and may be affiliated with the Reichsburger movement, which denies the legitimacy of the German government. Intelligence officials estimate about 25,000 people are linked to Reichsburger and similar extremist groups, with some considered potentially violent.
