Maduro slams Trump for authorising CIA ops in Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s unprecedented admission that he authorized CIA operations inside Venezuela, describing it as a “desperate” move to justify regime-change efforts.

Trump confirmed earlier this week that he had approved CIA activity targeting Venezuela, citing concerns about alleged drug trafficking and claims that Caracas was “emptying its prisons” into the United States. However, he declined to say whether the agency had been given permission to “take out” Maduro.

“This has never happened before,” Maduro said in a televised address on Thursday. “The CIA has done these things for decades, but no U.S. president had ever publicly declared it. It’s an act of desperation.” He accused Washington of seeking to destabilise Venezuela over its vast oil, gas, and gold reserves, referencing past U.S.-backed coups in Latin America later acknowledged in declassified CIA files.

Since September, the U.S. has intensified operations in the Caribbean, claiming to target drug-smuggling vessels allegedly tied to the Maduro government—actions that have destroyed six boats and killed more than two dozen people. Maduro dismissed the accusations and ordered Venezuela’s military to prepare for possible confrontation.

Recent New York Times reports said Trump instructed his administration to end diplomatic contact with Caracas and consider “military escalation” scenarios. Another article suggested Maduro had offered sweeping economic concessions to Washington in a bid to ease tensions—an offer the U.S. reportedly rejected over his continued hold on power.

Responding to those reports on Friday, Trump said Maduro had “offered everything,” adding bluntly that the Venezuelan leader “doesn’t want to f**k around with the United States.”

  1. I see the US commander in charge of the military in that region has just resigned. Suffice to say, this is scummy, war criminal behaviour, from yet another globalist, US administration. As for you Maduro, stop wasting you time negotiating with hoodlums and killers and make a deal with China/ Russia for those resources they dirty old USA wants to steal, that includes a measure of military co-operation. Be it supplying weapons, training or more.
