U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said U.S. President Donald Trump should apologise after making remarks that appeared to diminish the contribution of British forces in Afghanistan.
Trump, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, claimed the United States had not needed allied support and suggested NATO partners had remained largely away from frontline fighting.
Starmer responded by saying the comments were deeply offensive, particularly to the families of British service members who were killed or wounded during the conflict, and accused Trump of misrepresenting the reality of the war. He added that if he had made similar remarks himself, he would feel obliged to apologise.
Prince Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan, also criticised the comments.
The UK was the second-largest Western contributor to the war, with troop numbers peaking at about 11,000 in 2011, and lost 457 personnel during the 20-year campaign, compared with 2,456 US fatalities.

The death toll shows Trump was telling the truth which is something Starmer has trouble with,he even lied in the white house that the UK has free speech.
