The surfing community is honouring Alan “Greeny” Green, the co-founder of Quiksilver and a pioneer of modern surf wear, who passed away at his Torquay home in Victoria at age 77 after a battle with cancer.
Green, who began crafting wetsuits in 1969 with Rip Curl founders in a small Torquay home, revolutionised surf fashion with his innovative board short designs, including velcro flies and scalloped legs.
His contributions helped Quiksilver become a global brand and created thousands of jobs worldwide. Tributes poured in from figures like Kelly Slater, who called Green “one of a kind,” and Surfing Hall of Fame inductee Rod Brooks, who hailed his legacy and devotion to his family.
