Trump threatens 25% tariff on countries trading with Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose a blanket 25% tariff on any country that does business with Iran, sharply escalating Washington’s effort to economically isolate the Islamic Republic as unrest continues inside the country.

In a statement posted on Truth Social on Monday, Trump warned that nations maintaining commercial ties with Tehran would face penalties across all trade with the United States.

“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive,” he said.

The threat follows Trump’s recent remarks that his administration is considering “very strong options,” including potential military intervention, which he has framed as support for the Iranian people. Tehran, however, has accused the US and Israel of deliberately stoking unrest to create a pretext for outside action.

The White House has not yet detailed when the tariff would be enforced or how it would be applied, but the move could affect major economies that trade with both Iran and the US, including China, India and Brazil, as well as Pakistan, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates.

Protests in Iran erupted in late December after a sharp collapse in the national currency triggered steep price increases. The demonstrations have since escalated into the most serious unrest in years, with reports of hundreds of deaths and widespread damage, including attacks on mosques, medical facilities and government buildings.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told foreign diplomats in Tehran on Monday that his government has extensive evidence linking the violence to US and Israeli involvement. He alleged that foreign-backed operatives, including Israeli intelligence agents posing as protesters, were instructed to fire on civilians and security forces to spread chaos and justify foreign intervention.

Since returning to office last year, Trump has revived his “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran. In June, the US joined Israeli strikes on several Iranian nuclear facilities, citing concerns over Tehran’s nuclear programme.

At the same time, Trump has broadened his use of tariffs as a central tool of foreign and economic policy, targeting both rivals and allies.

  1. Really this is war, its impossible to see it otherwise. Same sort of thing we saw before WWII broke out. This is why we are seeing surveillance states, hurriedly being erected, hate speech laws and electronic currency (so they can steal your money to pay for war). All put in place, at lightening speed. The Five Eyes scumbags know whats coming but really at the same time, they have no idea. Delusional, anachronistic, ignoramus’s.

Russia and China are the real leaders now, not the US. Russia has superior weapons to anything the US has, as does China. The US is talking about a missile dome. China is actually building it. So its trying to catch up but its so far behind now, its resorting to violence to survive, when all it has to do is compromise, the one thing it should do but wont.

  2. All a part of the softening up campaign
In light of the impending imminent strike on Iran for the “Greater Israel Project”
For the Jewish State to be dominant in imposing and asserting its will and influence on others
Like the organized protests involving CIA Mossad MI6
Scurrilous but to be expected not surprising behavior
