Visa-free travel to China now available for NZ passport holders

China travel news
Shanghai at night.

Following a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, New Zealand passport holders can now enter China without a visa.

This new policy, announced during Li’s three-day trade-focused visit to Wellington, aims to ‘strengthen ties’ and encourage travel between the two nations.

Previously, only 11 European countries and Malaysia enjoyed this privilege.

While the exact start date for visa-free entry is not yet clear, trips will likely be limited to 15 days. The new policy is expected to save future travellers approximately $140 and boost the tourism industry, as highlighted by Wendy Wu of Wendy Wu Tours told legacy media.
