Scotty Morrison from marketing contradicts Sleepy Joe Biden on French sub deal

Someone is either lying or asleep at the wheel

In a stunning statement, adding to an already farcical situation, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison contradicts Joe Biden on the French nuclear sub debacle.

Morrison, a former marketing guru, insists Canberra regularly kept Washington in the loop regarding the deal.

Scott Morrison Joe Biden news

Last month Morrison sensationally snubbed a binding contract with France to build submarines for the Australian Navy, to instead sign a new deal with the UK for the supply of eight nuclear powered submarines.

The double-dealings caused a diplomatic row between France and Australia, with the French Foreign Minister at the time calling it ‘a stab in the back’.

At a press conference during the G20 Summit in Rome, Morrison said:

‘We kept the US administration up to date on the status of what the conversations and discussions had been with the French government. We worked closely with the US and the UK. We kept them up-to-date – the administration – as to where we were at in our various discussions with France.’

Morrison’s statement comes less than 24 hours after US President Joe Biden told reporters the US had no idea what Australia was doing, and was under the impression Canberra had informed France of the UK deal.
