Watch: Tesla car fire takes 42 minutes and 25,000 gallons of water to extinguish

The fire happened in a restaurant carpark in the Connecticut city of Stamford earlier this month.

Two fire engines arrived on the scene to find the Telsa vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

According to the Stamford Fire Department the fire took over 40 minutes to extinguish using 600 gallons per minute.

“A normal car fire usually requires no more than a single hose line,” according to Deputy Chief Eric Lorenz, the Incident Commander for the fire. “But we know from other Fire Departments’ experiences that large amounts of water are the only solution when compared to a traditional vehicle fire.” he continued.

According to Fire Officers on the scene, this fire may have been relatively easy to put out compared to some others across the nation because the entire bank of batteries dropped on the ground underneath the vehicle, where firefighters were focusing their fire attack.

  1. No no no this must be fake news as it has been fact checked rigorously by all the wonderful bright knowledgeable fact checkers around the world

  2. Gee these elegant electric vehicles are the future for sure, safe and efficient, and good for the planet. Brilliant for fires on the beach and a barbie. Gotta get me one of those… ????

  3. You wouldn’t want to have one of these things without insurance, the clean-up would cost more than the car and insurance will cost more than the clean-up.
