Zisi Kokotatsios, a 63-year-old former real estate agent, has been granted bail after being charged with dangerous driving leading to the death of lawyer Mitch East, 28, in Sydney.
East was found dead on Fletcher Street, Tamarama, on the morning of March 17.
Kokotatsios, accused of failing to stop and assist after the incident, allegedly ran over East, who was lying on the road, while on his way to pick up a passenger. Despite the prosecution’s claim of a strong case, including allegations of Kokotatsios using his phone during the crash, his defense argued there was no evidence he knew he had hit a person.
The magistrate acknowledged the prosecution’s challenges, granting Kokotatsios bail with conditions, including a driving ban and weekly police check-ins.
Kokotatsios is set to appear in court again on May 9.
