Several people have been killed and others injured in a knife attack during a festival in the western German city of Solingen, according to local media.
The attacker reportedly stabbed passers-by randomly in the city centre on Friday evening before fleeing the scene.
Police have launched a manhunt, with helicopters hovering above the city, and have imposed security cordons around the area.
The attack occurred during a festival celebrating 650 years of Solingen, and emergency crews are currently treating the injured at the scene. City authorities have urged people to leave the area.

Another report was that the perp was Russian.
