A man who was critically injured during an assault at his Western Heights home in Rotorua on 23 September has passed away.
His wife, who was also seriously assaulted during the attack, died on 5 October.
A 52-year-old man already charged with murder in connection to a related incident at an Utuhina property will now face additional murder charges for both victims.
The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in Rotorua High Court on 18 October.
Police have confirmed they are not seeking any other suspects in connection to the three deaths.
