Film director Alex Proyas has accused Elon Musk of using designs from his 2004 sci-fi movie I, Robot for Tesla’s androids and vehicles.
Proyas, known for adapting Isaac Asimov’s book series into the action film, took to X to claim similarities between Tesla’s new Optimus humanoid robots and self-driving vehicles, showcased at Tesla’s recent ‘We, Robot’ event, and the futuristic elements featured in his film.
Posting side-by-side comparisons, Proyas implied that Musk had borrowed elements from I, Robot without permission.
While Musk has not responded to the claims, some of his supporters argued that the designs seen in the movie were themselves influenced by earlier works.
Meanwhile, Tesla’s event, held in Burbank, California, also sparked controversy when some observers suggested that the robots’ advanced movements were remotely controlled by humans. These speculations were fuelled by reports from Bloomberg and videos from the event.
Hey Elon, Can I have my designs back please? #ElonMusk #Elon_Musk pic.twitter.com/WPgxHevr6E
