Body Shop New Zealand has officially gone into liquidation, resulting in the closure of all 16 stores nationwide and the loss of around 70 jobs.
The retailer had been in voluntary administration since January following the failure to secure a buyer after the UK parent company’s assets were sold—excluding the NZ arm.
Liquidators have confirmed that the final stores will shut on February 21 after selling off all remaining stock.
The liquidation was formalised at a creditors’ meeting on March 27.
While Body Shop International has seen a financial rebound under new ownership in the UK, Australia, and North America, the New Zealand operation could not be salvaged.
