US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly apologised for contributing to what she called America’s “toxic politics,” as her disagreement with U.S. president Donald Trump intensifies.
Once one of Trump’s most vocal defenders, Greene has recently clashed with the president, prompting him to label her a “traitor” and accuse her of drifting left.
Speaking to CNN, Greene said the accusation was both false and dangerous, warning that such rhetoric can fuel extremism. She cited rising political violence — including the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk — as a turning point that pushed her to step back from combative politics.
Greene said she still intends to push for the release of all remaining unredacted Epstein files, even as Trump urges Republicans to dismiss the issue as a distraction. She has also broken with GOP leadership over US aid to Israel and Ukraine, and has said Epstein may have worked as an Israeli agent.
