Trump accuses Democrats of botching probe into 2024 assassination attempt

US President Donald Trump has accused Democrats and the FBI under former President Joe Biden of deliberately mishandling the investigation into the July 2024 attempt on his life, claiming key information was missing or compromised by the time he returned to the White House.

Trump narrowly survived the shooting during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas M. Crooks opened fire from a rooftop. Trump was struck on the ear, while one attendee was killed and two others wounded. Crooks was subsequently killed by the Secret Service.

An internal review released later in 2024 identified a series of Secret Service failures leading up to the attack.

Writing on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump alleged the FBI under Biden had failed to properly investigate the shooting and claimed that when he took office in January 2025, much of the relevant information was “missing, altered, corrupted, or gone.”

Trump described the episode as a Democratic effort to force him out of the presidential election, although he did not provide evidence supporting that allegation. He also said new information concerning the case had recently emerged without specifying its nature.

The president singled out former FBI Director Christopher Wray for criticism, saying he should face consequences over his handling of the investigation. Wray, whom Trump appointed during his first term, previously told the House Judiciary Committee that investigators had found no evidence Crooks had accomplices. Wray resigned before Trump’s return to office in January 2025.

Current FBI Director Kash Patel told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that investigators had examined whether Crooks had links to other people involved in the attack but found no evidence of accomplices.

Attorney General Todd Blanche also disclosed that fresh information concerning Crooks had recently surfaced, including details relating to the gunman’s background and history that authorities had not previously known. He did not elaborate further.

Trump has faced several alleged assassination attempts. Two months after the Butler shooting, a pro-Ukraine activist was arrested after being discovered with a rifle near Trump’s Florida golf course and was later convicted of attempting to assassinate him.

In April 2026, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were evacuated from the Washington Hilton after gunfire erupted during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. Cole Tomas Allen was subsequently charged with attempting to assassinate the president.

  1. I think the bullet would probably have entered one ear, rattled around inside the skull and exited the other ear, had the shot been on mark, without inflicting any discernible harm.

  2. I seriously doubt if there was any assassination attempt
The waters are very murky surrounding Thomas Crooks involvement
    With FBLie undercurrents

  3. Trump wasn’t hit on the ear. It was a psyop.

You don’t have secret service letting you stand up fist pumping just after you have been shot at.

“I moved my hand to my right ear, moved it down and my hand was covered with blood. I immediately knew it was very serious, that we were under attack.”

Except his fist pumping hand wasn’t covered in blood, was it? Go look at the photos, there is no blood on his hand, let alone covered.

Just a straight up liar, as always.

    The fix was in
