Scott Adams, the American cartoonist behind the globally syndicated comic strip Dilbert, has died from cancer at the age of 68.
The death was announced by his ex-wife Shelly Miles during a livestream of his podcast.
First published in 1989, Dilbert became a cultural fixture in more than 2,000 newspapers across 65 countries and expanded into books, television and games, before being dropped by major publishers in 2023 following backlash over controversial remarks about race, when he referred to Black Americans as a “hate group” and said white people should “get the hell away from Black people.”
During Covid Adams was highly critical of those who refused the vaccine but changed his tune in 2022-23 as he began to openly question the COVID mRNA jab’s safety, admitting the unvaccinated had made the better choice.
