Kelly Hamilton – New name, same grit – new release – ‘Taken’

Kelly Hamilton news

After 6 years (with a little pause) of releasing music under the name Kell, indie rock/country artist Kelly Hamilton is stepping into a new chapter with her full name and a rawer, more grounded sound.

Known for her stripped-back arrangements, honest lyricism, and a sonic identity rooted in denim, boots, leather jacket and backroad honesty, Kelly’s music sits at the crossroads of indie vulnerability and country soul.

The decision to move from Kell to Kelly Hamilton isn’t a departure — it’s an evolution. A name that fully reflects the woman and the artist she’s grown into. With new singles on the way, Kelly Hamilton is focused on clarity, connection, and expanding her reach. Her music is made for open skies, long drives, and listeners who like their songs a little gritty and deeply real.

Her brand new track “Taken” is a song of healing.

Kelly explains ..”I wrote “Taken” during a shift in my own healing. It’s a song born from walking away—not in bitterness, but with courage and intention. For anyone who’s ever played by the rules, loved someone who couldn’t meet them halfway, and still got burned—this one’s for you. Because this isn’t just about being broken. It’s about choosing to let go.”

“Is this bar stool taken?” More than just a question—it’s a reckoning. There’s a kind of heartbreak that doesn’t shout—it lingers in the quiet corners of a room, in the space between two people who once knew each other.

“Taken” is that silence. A conversation that never happened—until now. This track dives into the emotional aftermath of a relationship marked by avoidance, addiction, and masks. It confronts the damage left behind by someone who chose lies and excuses over love and accountability.

Set in the dim light of a bar, “Taken” walks the tightrope between heartbreak and awakening. The recurring question becomes a powerful refrain—part challenge, part farewell. It’s about that pivotal moment: when you stop asking for closure, and start claiming your power, when you realize you’re not broken—just done sitting at the wrong table.

Recorded at The Songstore, mixed, mastered and produced by Adrian Hannan.
