Actress Melanie Lynskey, 46, is nominated for two Emmy awards.
They are Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Shauna in Yellowjackets, a show about a high school girls’ football team surviving a plane crash, and Outstanding Supporting Actress for playing Kathleen Coghlan in The Last Of Us a post-apocalyptic drama based on a video game franchise.
In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lynskey expressed excitement about the intense roles she played in these series, despite the challenges of balancing her career with being a mother to a 4-year-old.
Lynskey, who began her acting career in New Plymouth, first gained recognition as a teenager in Peter Jackson’s Oscar-nominated Heavenly Creatures in 1994. Over the past 30 years, she has built a successful career in the United States, notably appearing in over 60 episodes of Two And A Half Men and various films and TV shows. These Emmy nominations are her first.
In 2022, Lynskey won a Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in “Yellowjackets.” The 2024 Emmys, affected by the 2023 writers’ strike, will be broadcast live on The Television Academy’s YouTube channel at 2pm today.
