Grammy-winning R&B singer Roberta Flack, best known for her iconic hit Killing Me Softly With His Song, has passed away at age 88.
Her representative confirmed she died peacefully at home surrounded by family, though no cause of death was disclosed.
Flack had battled health issues in recent years, including an ALS diagnosis in 2022, which made singing and speaking difficult.
Born in North Carolina, she was a musical prodigy, earning a scholarship to Howard University at 15 before launching her career in Washington, D.C.
She was discovered in the late 1960s by jazz musician Les McCann, leading to a record deal and a string of timeless hits.
