Former news presenter Joanna Paul-Robie announced she is dying of terminal cancer at a Matariki ceremony.
Paul-Robie shared the news on state media RNZ’s Matariki programme, as she reflected on receiving the Icon Award at the Ngā Tohu Toi awards in Tauranga. She described the award as the most honorable experience of her life, especially poignant given her diagnosis.
Paul-Robie began her career at RNZ and worked for TV3 and Māori Television.
