Dutch authorities have revealed that Jos Leijdekkers, a 33-year-old fugitive convicted of smuggling over seven tonnes of cocaine, has been living in Sierra Leone for about six months.
Sentenced in absentia to 24 years in prison, Leijdekkers, known as “Bolle Jos,” is one of Europol’s most-wanted criminals and is believed to be a key player in international cocaine trafficking.
A $210,000 reward is offered for information leading to his capture.
Leijdekkers was reportedly seen in a social media video alongside Sierra Leone’s First Lady in January.
Authorities in Sierra Leone have not commented on the claims, but the country recently faced a separate drug scandal involving suspected cocaine found in an embassy vehicle in neighbouring Guinea.
