An Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to Dunedin was diverted to Wellington after a mid-air incident involving a disruptive passenger.
Witnesses reported the woman’s behaviour deteriorated during the flight, including making inappropriate comments and gestures, which alarmed fellow passengers.
Details of the incident remain limited, although another passenger told legacy media the woman in her 40s appeared to be flirting with someone next to her, and that her behaviour got worse as the flight progressed.
Crew called for help from passengers with security experience, and two men restrained the woman until landing.
Upon arrival in Wellington, police met the aircraft, and the woman was taken to the hospital for assessment.
