Air New Zealand to cancel 1,100 flights as fuel crisis hits schedules

Air New Zealand flight cancellations

Air New Zealand will cancel about 1,100 flights between now and early May, disrupting travel plans for roughly 44,000 passengers out of the 1.9 million expected to fly during that period, as soaring jet fuel costs linked to Middle East conflict force the airline to trim mainly off-peak services across both domestic and international networks.

Chief executive Nikhil Ravishankar told state media no routes would be dropped entirely and most affected travellers would be rebooked onto same-day services, with regional links remaining a priority.

The airline said only a small number of long-haul services would be reduced, with flights to US destinations including San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles and Houston continuing, while fares have already risen to offset higher fuel costs after oil prices surged amid disruption around the Strait of Hormuz.

  1. This goddam well would NOT BE HAPPENING IF THE NZ ENERGY MINISTERS WOULD HAVE BEGUN TO RE-OPEN AND REBUILD THE MARSDEN POINT REFINERY ON DAY ONE AFTER THE OVERTHROW OF COMMUNIST ARDERN’S LIEBOUR PARTY, AND STARTED RECOVERING OIL & GAS FROM THE IDENTIFIED FIELDS BOTH ON LAND AND OFFSHORE!
We could have been energy independent from the rest of the warring world, and could have also been a declared neutral nation!
There is only one way out of this…

Even IF NZ Loyal got in, the time frame between now and the 2026 Election will have created so much more economic damage far exceeding what the Covid lock-downs did and loss of businesses that never recovered and went *bankrupt!! (*by Globalist WEF / WHO design..)
Shane Jones, Simon Watts, Simeon Brown, and the Luxon Cabinet have done NOTHING to restore NZ’s energy independence from the rest of the world.
    I wonder why…

  2. How many flights are qantas canceling…
Air nz canceling flights because nz is so broke now only mps can fly and air nz has been run into the ground

  3. To the pro US trolls telling us what is happening in Iran is none of our business. Well as we can see, its very much our business and everyone eases, as well. In fact, if the US minded its own business and left the rest of the world in peace, this wouldn’t happen.

    • Very much our business at the petrol pump, yes.

And you are free to think, form opinions and comment on whatever you want. I respect your opinions even if I don’t always agree with them.

All I’ve said in the past is; I don’t think it’s a good idea for the professional money launderers in Wellington to all start running their mouths and wagging their fingers for MSM screen time before the bombs have even stopped falling.

Particularly when we’re two tiny islands at the bottom of the earth with no power over these matters whatsoever. History is written by the victors, so I think they should all at least wait until the conflict has ended before they all start their insincere grandstanding.

  4. Just as well the greenies poured concrete into the marsdon piping, that way the global warming was put on hold and the coastlines were saved from inundation from melting icebergs. Also it prevented the walrusses from falling down cliffs at the south pole. Now we can ban private cars and just travel by eco-friendly electric buses if we want to go anywhere.
