Palmerston North Police have arrested three people and impounded four vehicles after an operation targeting illicit street racing in the city overnight.
Additionally three people underwent an EBA procedure and have been summonsed for driving with excess breath alcohol.
Police were aware a large gathering of vehicles had been planned and an operation was put in place to target any illegal activity.
Manawatū Area Prevention Manager Senior Sergeant Phil Ward says Police are aware such events are disruptive and frustrating for residents.
“We intend to continue to target risky behaviour from antisocial road users who are participating in illegal street racing.
“Police intend to continue to be visible at planned meet-ups and hope our enforcement action provides reassurance to those in the community who have been affected by this behaviour.”
Anyone with concerns about antisocial road users should call 111 if it is happening now, or if it is after the fact call 105 or make a report online.

These creatures will spend thousands of dollars on their turbochargers, dropping the suspensions of their vehicles, installing new wheels, etc. butting illegal exhaust systems on board, but yet they won’t spend a few dollars to get a WOF or keep their Rego active…
If they are this stupid in their prioritising, then imagine what they must perceive and interpret on the roads whilst in motion!
This was a problem in central Florida last month near rural properties until the Good Ol’ Boys suddenly emerged out of the swamps with their rifles, shotguns and .44 & .45 ACP pistols and shot the shit out of all of the ‘Bro-mobiles’ as they are called there in that part of the State.
ALL vehicles were written off as total losses after that.
Noteworthy were the .44 Magnums which were fired into the engine blocks…
The Sheriff will not be laying charges, as to drive the vehicles in a wreckless way around pedestrians constitutes a possible threat of harm, and a threat to life, limb and property.
When drug dealers moved into one small Florida town, the Sheriff and Police Chief looked the other was when the ‘Good Ol’ Boys’ found out that their children’s primary school was being targeted by the drug dealers living in town (in a mobile home, of course…)
While the dopers were out procuring more ecstasy, hooch, etc. the Good Ol’ Boys set fire to the HQ and burned their trailer down…leaving only the smouldering floor on the chassis as it was towed away…
