Body of missing Lake Wainamu swimmer found after two-day search

A body has been recovered after a swimmer went missing on Lake Wainamu

Police have confirmed that the body of a swimmer who went missing at Lake Wainamu near Bethells Beach has been recovered.

The Police National Dive Squad located the man today after joining the search effort, which began on Monday evening shortly after 6pm and was initially coordinated by the Police Maritime Unit.

Authorities acknowledged the support of the Bethells Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, whose search and rescue team assisted in the first response.

Police extended their condolences to the man’s family and friends, stating their thoughts are with them during this difficult time. The death has been referred to the Coroner.
