The Herald report exposes how documents released under the Official Information Act (OIA) reveal how health officials and ministers navigated vaccine decisions, extended dosing intervals, and public risk communications in 2021. However, Cook highlights a glaring omission in both the official record and mainstream coverage: a crucial meeting held between vaccine ministers and health officials on August 13, 2021, concerning the rollout of the vaccine to 12- to 15-year-olds and associated safety messaging, was conspicuously absent from the official public diaries of then-Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins, and Health Minister Andrew Little and altered in the diary of Grant Robertson.
This lack of transparency is further compounded by recent correspondence from the Office of the Ombudsman regarding OIA complaints lodged by Cook and Sue Grey. The Ministry of Health has admitted that these high-level Friday ministers’ meetings were unminuted, leaving no official record, video, transcripts, or documentation regarding who requested the removal of critical safety information concerning myocarditis from public health messaging. These missing records and diary omissions are now the subject of a complaint to the Chief Archivist.
Some of Cook’s research is recognised and she is named in the article.
“Congratulations to the NZ Herald on covering this, but where are the rest of the media on telling the truth?” asked Cook. “The story is not over until ministers resign or people end up in a court as far as I’m concerned. Missing paper trails, unrecorded ministerial meetings, and the scrubbing of safety warnings strike at the core of public trust, accountability, and informed consent.”
As public demand grows for full transparency regarding how major pandemic health policies were executed and recorded, the calls for systemic accountability and ministerial reckoning continue to intensify.
“We were referred to as conspiracy theorists and now we are proven to have been correct! Information was withheld. There are people who died from the vaccine and who have injuries with ongoing suffering, one is my son and this fight is only just beginning as far as I am concerned, It would be in people’s best interest to come forward as whistleblowers now really, and for the media to do its job now as the 4th estate, as a person with 40 years experience dealing with the media I still have faith that they will tell the truth and investigate even during the political cycle. The Royal Commission found that under his tenure, the $60 billion COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund included many projects unrelated to the pandemic, contributing to inflation and housing price increases. Grant Robertson declined to appear at public hearings, terming them a “show trial.”
David Clark (Former Health Minister): Served as Health Minister during the initial 2020 response and early border restrictions.
Even David Seymour was pushing policy: In a Dec 21 parliament speech Seymour criticized the roadblocks out of Auckland for being too permeable and poorly enforced.
The Royal Commission was a hog-wash white-wash of Inquiry.
The Temporary Medical Exemptions (TME) Panel operated in complete secrecy, with member identities redacted from official information requests.
Up to this day nobody is being held responsible, accountable, no prosecutions have occurred.
