Hipkins admits Labour’s mistake over quoting column using c-word in Parliament

Hipkins C-word news

Labour leader Chris Hipkins has reversed his earlier stance and taken responsibility after Labour MP Jan Tinetti quoted a Sunday Star-Times column in Parliament that used the c-word to describe female ministers, sparking uproar.

Initially refusing to condemn the language, Hipkins now admits the move distracted from the core issue of pay equity for low-paid women.

He conceded the party should have cited a different source and acknowledged the question had gone through Labour’s approval process.

“I think we made a mistake there, and when people affected by this see politicians fighting with each other and making it all about themselves, as we’ve seen in the last 24 hours, I think they’ll feel somewhat despondent and dejected”, said Hipkins.

“We should get back to talking about the issues that affect them.”

Speaker Gerry Brownlee also admitted he should not have allowed the question or the use of the word in response to go unchecked.

Its ALWAYS about politicians, never the people of New Zealand. Never has the term “public servant”, seemed less appropriate and its getting worse.

  2. Everybody is forgetting the key issue about the former Labour Party Leaders. When are we the people going to start persecuting and prosecuting these individuals for violating the Nuremberg Codes and committing Crimes against Humanity from the ‘Covid mandates’ ??? It was good enough to do so in 1947 why is it not good enough to do so now in 2025 ??? We have gone as soft as dumplings. Perhaps the rumblings from Victoria Australia in the prosecuting of former Premier Daniel Andrews might spark some movement at the station. Always remember Govts. are elected by the people, for the people, to serve the people. When they dont serve the people anymore they must be removed. When they step over the line into Infanticide and Genocide they must be Persecuted, Procecuted Indicted and Incarcerated. They are our servants not our masters. Govts. never heed or remember this. They just self serve, free load and follow the hymn book of their bribing masters, and to hell with the poplace. I think that just about sums up NZ for the last 78 years or so.

  3. Hipkins made a mistake with Covid too

  4. In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way. We must not look to government to solve our problems. Government is the problem. Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. – FDR
