Labour leader Chris Hipkins has publicly rejected allegations made by his former wife Jade Paul, disputing both the claims and the way the events were characterised, while declining to discuss the specific issues in detail.
Speaking at Parliament after returning from Australia, Hipkins said he wanted to keep his private life private and did not believe personal relationship matters should be argued through the media, particularly for the sake of his children.
The allegations, which did not involve unlawful conduct, were briefly posted on Paul’s private Facebook page before being removed.
Hipkins denied each claim put to him, including accusations relating to support during and after the marriage, and also denied ever having an extramarital affair while serving as a minister, saying his current relationship began a year after his separation. He said he had sought advice over the possible publication of untrue allegations but had not sought legal advice about the Facebook post itself.
Hipkins and Paul married in 2020, separated in 2022, share two children, and Hipkins later confirmed his relationship with Toni Grace after the 2023 election.

Yes Chuck, but can’t repeat here because that would also be a publication which would potentially be defamation. Chippy needs legal advice about whether it’s defamation though 😆 and he is a bit dim because his right to privacy is diminished by virtue of having taken a public office as there’s public interest in how you conduct yourself when you’re a public figure, duh Chippy…that is, unless he’s giving reasons for stepping down 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I think good on his ex for sharing her experiences and her opinion of what she thinks are BS political takes that don’t match lived reality.
According to her, he:
1) Didn’t care when she miscarried. She had to drive herself home from the hospital still covered in blood.
2) Didn’t care when she almost miscarried another child. Was “too busy” to visit her in hospital so he sent his mum.
3) After they split, he refused to help her financially. She claims to have lost many employment opportunities due to him being PM and companies not being able to hire her due to conflicts of interest regulations.
I dunno, take it all with a massive pinch of salt. The guy is a total weasel scumbag POS, but these claims are vintage angry ex-wife material. There’s also the fact that she deleted it immediately and won’t discuss it any further. So who really knows (or even cares)? 🤷🏼♂️
I wonder how this will all track with women? Rumor or not… I’m not up to speed with the labour party but if this guy is their no.1.pick I can’t imagine there’s a lot of strength come off the bench. I’m not a fan of the current lot but the return of labour is unfathomable. Why can these minor parties band together? They’d potentially have a shot at nz first/act numbers of they did.
I think the allegations are that he is a deadbeat scumbag PoS, not even worthy of his own family’s love. Which should surprise no one.

What is real is Hipkins is suffering from his own party’s legislation that promotes and financially rewards parental alienation. Pay me money or ya don’t see you kids! Normally carried out by real nasty bitches who only think of taking someone else’s money and property. From what I see, NZ low birth rate is slowing that scam down.
Normally added (and this one is no acceptation) is the destruction of a man’s livelihood and future. Such child abuse must be a criminal offence. If it is ongoing then locking the parent who does this such things should be in prison.
You would think such obvious destruction of father child relationship is nothing to be concerned about. Well not until the child starts to become destructive and a burden on our community.
While the government has the crimes act open, it would be helpful to add “The false allegations amendment bill”.
