Auckland-based immigration lawyer Ken Oh was found by a disciplinary tribunal to have acted in his own interests by charging clients between $26,000 and $77,000 for bundled visa and job-placement services, significantly above typical costs, while imposing restrictive contract terms that limited complaints and imposed financial penalties.
Although the tribunal ruled the fee structure did not amount to misconduct due to the novel nature of the service and the value delivered—since all clients obtained visas and jobs—it described the approach as “loose and opportunistic” and identified serious concerns around client obligations and fairness.
The lawyer admitted misconduct relating to client duties, and a penalty hearing is set to follow.
No way this is true. A dishonest lawyer!
