India, Pakistan trade accusations after deadly Islamabad suicide bombing

Tensions have flared between India and Pakistan following a suicide bombing outside a district court in Islamabad that killed at least 12 people on Tuesday.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused India of orchestrating the attack, calling it an act of “state terrorism” and urging the world to condemn what he described as Indian conspiracies.

India swiftly rejected the allegations, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal calling them “baseless and unfounded,” accusing Pakistan of fabricating narratives to distract from its internal issues.

The blast came a day after a separate explosion in Delhi killed 13 people and injured more than 20 near the Red Fort. While India has not blamed Pakistan, its Home Minister Amit Shah said authorities are investigating all possible angles.

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, meanwhile, suggested the Islamabad attack was coordinated from Afghanistan, warning that Pakistan has the “full power to respond.” The attack occurred as Sri Lanka’s cricket team played nearby in Rawalpindi, evoking memories of past assaults on foreign teams in Pakistan.
