‘Investigation needed into Mahuta links’ – Simeon Brown

Mahuta investigation news

The National Party Spokesperson announced the party had written to the Public Service Commissioner requesting an investigation.

In a statement released today, Brown said:

‘National has written to the Public Service Commissioner requesting an investigation into the way that potential conflicts of interest have been managed in relation to contracts awarded to family members of Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta.

‘Nanaia Mahuta’s husband’s firm has been the recipient of several government contracts appearing to present a number of conflicts of interest and perceived conflicts of interest.

‘Two of these contracts were awarded to Ms. Mahuta’s husband’s firm when she was an associate Minister for the department awarding the contract.

‘This week The New Zealand Herald revealed Ms. Mahuta was listed as one of the paid panelists working on a contract awarded to her husband’s firm for work on a suicide prevention programme. This presents even more questions which need answering.

‘Two of the contracts which have been awarded are now the subject of internal investigations by the departments which awarded them.

‘New Zealanders have high expectations over how conflicts of interest are managed.

‘Any perceived conflicts of interest need to be managed appropriately. The fact that two of these contracts are under internal investigation and the Minister herself was involved in one of them raises serious questions.

‘National is calling for the Public Service Commission to investigate how these contracts were awarded and the processes that were put in place.

‘Taxpayers need to have confidence in the government’s procurement approach and that conflicts are being appropriately managed.’

  1. The corruption and nepotism is disgusting. And the lies! ????

How much else of this goes on? It sure does need an investigation- by someone NOT related to the Labour Party.

  2. Remember this is our “transparent” government which is also the “one source of truth!”
Are we surprised by this? Not at all!!
I even wonder, if there were further investigations, if other similar family favours would come to light as well. But we have almost zero MSM journalists willing to do the hard yards and use real investigative skills in New Zealand it would seem. So we sigh and look elsewhere for the real true stories that can be trusted to tell us what is really going on! Thank you, Daily Telegraph. You give hope to your readers that the truth is out there and can still be printed in our beloved country.

  3. NBo hiding of corruption and favouritism under Jabsinda. MSM and govt and private media is given close to billion dollars and much of it will be swallowed. It is a legalised corruption and falls outside election expenses. So I am not surprised Mahuta gets her little commision when billions are “wasted” for propping up Jabsinda.

  4. Nanaia what a shameful thing to abuse your position of trust.

But in truth our whanau know you have gone well beyond mere conflict of interest. You have danced with the devil and it’s time to pay.

My only hope being those around you like Adern also face the people whose feet you have stepped over.

What a disgrace and disappointment Labour have become. Ka nui te pouri o taku ngakau. Great is the sorrow of my heart.

  5. Well now we know how ‘co governance’ works.

Shell companies, jobs and money for the whanau, contracts given with no tenders. Nothing but nepotistic theft from the taxpayers by Mahuta, her cusband and their family.

What’s even worse than that is that the Labour Government is actively lying and covering it up. In fact they think it’s funny.

I hope Sharma drops some more truthbombs this weekend because we out here are sick and tired of the corruption for the incumbent government. Nothing transparent about big black blocks on the OIAs. ????

  6. NATIONAL PARTY, what a pack of WHINGERS.
The moan about tax payers money and yet they demand special Commissioners to investigate Labour and Maori.
Short memory: the pakeha Crown stole Maori land through creating laws based on foreign countries and their policies and laws called “the common law”. 16% Maori had 99% land taken given to pakeha to create their wealth.
On the stolen land grabs were Maori whare, produce and their economic development, EVERYTHING was taken, our Maori people were made homeless, unemployed and destitute.
NEPOTISM: Oh my goodness, learn your Pakeha History, before you point the finger.
NB: Pakeha and the National Party are always badmouthing and pointing the
finger at Maori dole bludgers, LOOK IN THE MIRROR –
This is Aotearoa named by Maori long before the English ships came here, overseas white supremacy ideals, policies and disinformation NOT WANTED, if this is you HAERE RA, KA KITE
    GO BACK!

    • Nepotism…just as ugly as herself. These functionaries are a bane on Maori. It’s hard to comprehend that Maori as a whole do not condemn and oust these parasites.
