Israel has initiated a ground operation in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah forces near the border in a series of “limited, localised, and targeted raids,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced.
The operation, aimed at eliminating threats to Israeli communities, is being conducted with air and artillery support from the Israeli Air Force.
According to the IDF, the raids are based on precise intelligence and are focused on Hezbollah targets in villages close to the Israeli-Lebanese border. These areas are deemed to pose “an immediate threat” to northern Israel, prompting the decision to deploy ground forces. The Israeli military emphasised that the operation is being carried out under a carefully planned strategy coordinated by the General Staff and Northern Command, for which IDF soldiers have been preparing for months.
Dubbed “Operation Northern Arrows,” the mission was authorised by Israel’s political leadership and is designed to neutralise Hezbollah threats while continuing to fight in Gaza and other conflict zones.
The IDF confirmed that the operation will proceed based on ongoing situational assessments, with the broader aim of safeguarding Israeli citizens and restoring normalcy to communities in northern Israel.
