Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its jets conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah military targets in southern Lebanon, releasing a video showing the strikes on Wednesday.

The targets included arms depots, observation posts, and personnel, according to the IDF’s statement on X.

The strikes took place near the Lebanese settlements of Aitaroun, Maroun al-Ras, and Odaisseh. The IDF also reported a rocket attack from Lebanon, with around 40 rockets fired at northern Israel’s Upper Galilee region. While some were intercepted, others landed in open areas. Additionally, drones targeting Western Galilee were reportedly shot down by Israeli air defenses.

Tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border have been escalating, with exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and the IDF becoming more frequent since the start of Israel’s military operation in Gaza following a Hamas incursion last October.

Lebanon’s health ministry has reported over 1,000 deaths and 6,000 injuries in recent Israeli strikes.

On Monday, Israeli special forces carried out ground raids inside Lebanon. Several reports from Middle Eastern media outlets suggested that the IDF faced casualties in an ambush by Hezbollah near the village of Odaisseh, with Israel confirming one soldier’s death.
