Judge reserves decision in Liz Gunn airport case – Counterspin

Liz Gunn airport case news

Judge Janey Forrest has reserved her decision at the conclusion of the trial today at the Manukau District Court.

Counterspin Media report she will deliver her judgment on 21 May at 3.45pm.

Gunn is charged with assault and resisting police. Trespass charges against her and co-defendant Jonathan Clark were thrown out by the judge earlier this week.

‘The gallery was packed with supporters, many of whom felt the process was clearly unjust and are disappointed there was no positive outcome today,’ Counterspin tweeted.

‘The court also heard from Ray Cobb who went into the police “force policy” drafted in 1961 and still is part of the main rule book in use today.

‘He said the police did not follow correct procedures regarding tactical communication with the public and regarding active listening. They did not de-escalate the situation – they actively escalated it.’

Gunn’s lawyer Mathew Hague of Frontline Law said the hearing, ‘went very well and we’re hoping for the right result.’

  1. Lol, expecting the “right result” from an NZ judge is like still believing in Santa.

Liz is a trouble maker to the establishment, the behind-the-scenes political pressure on the judge must be enormous.

No way the ruling won’t be stroke-inducing mental gymnastics.

  2. It was a political arrest and nonsense trial. The police arrested the person who is exposing the people responsible for jabbing and murdering thousands of NZ citizens. The NZ Police have lost public credibility when they ignore what has happened. The police rely on the public, and the vast majority of the public simply no longer trust or respect them. The police are no longer on the public side.

  3. Typical of the grubby standards we find in the banana republic of NZ, these days…… democracy is well and truly DEAD………..no free speech, no independent journalism……………..

  4. Ah yep. The age old ‘kangaroo court’ routine.

We all know how this works. The protracted process is the punishment.

  5. Wow!

Talk about banana republic trumped-up lawfare.

Hopefully the judge will have the courage to dismiss all charges.

    He/she won’t obviously.

  6. Liz Gunn wears her heart on her sleeve. Not a bad
Trait however one that can at times lead to engaging mouth before putting mind into gear. She has and continues to tread a path fraught with land mines. Keep up the good work however think in advance about what battle to pick. This government has no qualms about completely destroying any soul that heralds the truth.

  7. This all filters back to Pfizer & the elites. What power do they ( Pfizer ) hold if not backed by the very few sitting at the top of the pyramid? They are Propagating endless KAOS ( Smart ) conveniently engineered to ensure the various industrial complexes continue to milk the world
