PM Christopher Luxon has reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to standing “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine, after participating in a virtual summit on the issue.
The event, hosted by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, included high-profile world leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy. The summit focused on strategies to support Ukraine in achieving what was described as a “just and lasting peace.”
However, the announcement has sparked a wave of criticism from some New Zealanders and international observers who argue that the summit does little to promote actual peace.
Critics accuse Western leaders, including Luxon, of warmongering while dismissing U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate an end to the war. Some reactions were particularly scathing, with accusations that the summit was more about political posturing than genuine diplomatic resolution.
“Where were you emergency meetings three years ago?? You’re suddenly having emergency meetings with the warmongers because you want peace?? Yeah right,” one social media user commented, reflecting skepticism about the timing of such discussions.
Others directly accused the New Zealand government of meddling where it does not belong. “You and your globalist mates. Stop sticking your beak in. Trump is sorting out the PEACE deal. You warmongers don’t need to try and undermine. Just stay out of it,” wrote another critic, echoing claims the U.S. president is actively working towards a diplomatic resolution.
The backlash also touched on personal and national concerns, with one comment asking, “When will you be enlisting your son to stand shoulder to shoulder with them on the front line?” while another declared, “Oh my god go join them then but us NZr’s don’t agree. F*** Ukraine and f*** Starmer.”
The summit’s discussions may have been framed around peace, but the strong reactions suggest that many remain unconvinced.
With divisions deepening over how best to handle the Ukraine conflict, criticism of New Zealand’s involvement underscores the ongoing global debate over the balance between military support and diplomatic negotiations.
New Zealand stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.
I’ve just attended the Virtual Summit on Ukraine, hosted by Prime Minister Sir @Keir_Starmer, attended by President @EmmanuelMacron, President @ZelenskyyUa, and many other leaders.
Our discussion included how to support…

No it doesn’t you little Bolshevik globalist cluck.
Breaking False Flag alert:
President Trump has ordered waves of air strikes on Yemen’s Houthis.
The US has launched a “decisive and powerful” wave of air strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen, President Donald Trump has said, citing the armed group’s attacks on shipping in the Red Sea as the reason.
I guess a little ignorant man like Luxon feels like a big man at being included in the EU leaders meeting on Ukraine. Yes NZ stands with the neo nazis of Ukraine.
Its like those Russian dolls, start with the top layer, Putin and Trump, the likes of charity store Churchill and two dollar shop Napoleon come next, below that the smallest and most insignificant items, little microbes from NZ, AU and the like.
Foolish government in action.
It’s instead wiser to first await then consider explicit UN resolutions and/or mandates on Ukraine before deciding whether or not to stand shoulder to shoulder with anybody.
Just hope all those political leaders go to Ukraine and fight on the front line, maybe take their family members with them.
No Luxon; YOU stand ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ with genocidal Ukraine!
We, the people of New Zealand, DO NOT!!!!!
We’ll remember your comment of supporting the Talmudic Fascist Regime that has murdered 10,000 ethnic Russian Orthodox Christians from 2014-2022, and then beyond with the Ukraine-Russian War.
The Ukraine in it’s present form is a J3wi$h / Zionist State comprised of murderous Khazarians!!!!!
Luxon might stand with the Ukrainian ratbags in power and their ilk, I certainly don’t. He is just another in a long line of embarrassments this country has produced. They are fools to think Russia can be defeated on the ground, and by other means like laughable sanctions. All mouth no brains. Lord, save us from the clowns and idiots…
Luxon standing shoulder to shoulder with zelensky because he wants a line too?
“Shoulder to shoulder…”
More like with your head up your (censored)
If anyone can’t see that National have are wearing the same dirty globalist undies as Labour, then they have not been paying attention. Time for this character and his pals, to be shown the door, next election.
So much for New Zealand’s ‘independent’ foreign policy.
I wrote to this clown last week denouncing his undying love for Zelensky. No reply of course.
Oh well, the best Luxon can hope for now is that he actually sees out his one and only term as PM because he sure as hell will not get reelected.
I don’t believe Trump will sort out a ceasefire/peace plan. He will flip flop and go with the EU and Ukraine when things don’t go his way.
Macron, Starmer and Zelensky may be high profile but, they are not world leaders. Just clowns, like Luxon.
Hiw dare Luxon speak for us NZers, he does not have a clue nor care what the poeple of NZ think about this issue.
He is just servicing his own global agenda for the elites.
Wjy has he not been thrown out of his job as PM?
National is carrying on Arderns work…
No vote from us next election. And neither will Liebore get our vote, they can all get lost.
Hope Trump drags them off to GITMO.
These asshole PMs drag the whole country down when they make
these blanket statements.
Carry on lying Mr Luxton, I am ready for a revolution.
