Magnitude 3.4 quake strikes south-east of Palmerston North

A second quake has shaken the North Island this evening.

The magnitude 3.4 quake struck at 10.57pm this evening, and was centred 25km south-east of Palmerston North at a depth of 23 km, according to GeoNet. An earlier 3.0 quake near Porangahau was recorded at 7.46pm.
