Members of public come to officer’s assistance in Feilding

A road policing officer was a couple of hours into her shift on Saturday 13 April, when she responded to a report received shortly after 2pm of a group of people fighting on the side of the Lethbridge Street in Feilding.

She intervened and the situation began to calm down. However, the arrival of another aggressive person saw the incident flare up again, putting the officer in a potentially dangerous position.

Other Police staff were travelling to the incident but were still several minutes away. Fortunately, several members of the public saw what was happening, and came to the officer’s aid while she worked to resolve the situation.

Manawatu Area Commander Inspector Ross Grantham says, “What started out as a fairly typical callout involving a handful of people quickly escalated with the arrival of an aggressive person. I appreciate that members of the Feilding community stepped in to provide assistance until this officer’s colleagues arrived.

“We work hard to be there for the community and we’re always grateful when they’re there for us.”

One person is reported to have received minor injuries as a result of the incident. No Police staff were injured.

Two people were arrested and have been charged with assault. A 35-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman are due to appear in Palmerston North District Court on Thursday 17 April.

An 18-year-old man was also charged with driving while disqualified, and the vehicle he was driving has been seized and impounded. He is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court on 24 April.

  1. There seems to be a lot of silly shit in the Manawatu of late, especially around Palmy North…and it always seems to involve Pacific People
Maori and Pacific Island Elders need to get control of their kids away from the gangs, who are using their young family members to do the bidding of the same, as a juvenile cannot be charged with an adult crime.
And IF you think it’s bad in public, just imagine the bullying, drug distribution, and potentially lethal fights that are going on sporatically.
Maori and Pacific People need to stop following rap, hip-hop and gangsta culture and re-institute their great accomplishments.

They also need to recognise that they are not ‘privileged’ to the point of stealing under the aspect of ‘borrowing’ (permanently), and that they WERE NOT the first to arrive on these islands, but the government knows this, and has ordered the historical record of this sealed until 2040.

The government does NOT want the evidence of giants living in New Zealand, even though Maori legends allude to this, and revealing such would justify Genesis Chapter 6.

  2. Women shouldn’t be allowed (or worse yet, encouraged) to serve as front line police officers or military.

Criminals, methheads and insurgents don’t give a damn about diversity and inclusion. You are putting yourself and the community you’re trying to protect in danger.

  3. Well… that’s what happens when the NZ Police recruit woke DEI 5 ft high skinny wrist light weight women. No respect from the tax farm prol’s. Is why they are normally two in a patrol car, one a burly male. Is why we need twice as many cops.

  4. No longer “Traffic” cops I see, now “Road Policing Officers”… does that mean they were “COVID Police Officers” at the time? Covid cops even?
