The following is a statement on behalf of the family of Susan Knowles, who died in the Mt Maunganui landslide.
Sue was a mother, sister, aunty, grandmother, and loving wife. Her grandkids called her Granna, she was a friend to many and loved by all.
In many ways she was larger than life and will be dearly missed.
Sue had a positive impact on so many people’s lives, through her work and her hobbies outside of work.
We like to refer to her as an active relaxer, somebody who was always on the go and looking for her next adventure.
Our family would like to acknowledge and send our appreciation to everybody who has reached out and sent lovely tributes for Sue.
What the teams working on the ground are faced with, is by no means anybody’s day to day work, and we will forever be appreciative of everything they have done in these unprecedented circumstances.
The digger operators, Police staff and Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s Urban Search and Rescue team have worked tirelessly in extremely challenging conditions.
These men and women have turned up day in, day out and worked extremely hard to bring Sue back to us.
We have formed so many great relationships with the teams over the last week and their efforts will have a lasting impact on our lives.
We want to express our appreciation for local iwi, everybody that has worked on site and the community for all their assistance, love, and support that we have been shown.
All the tributes published so far have ‘acknowledged the local iwi’. This makes me think they have had some sort of Maori blackmail/pressure put on them. By whom? Who pulling the strings here?
The iwi weren’t stopping people walking above the slip zone whilst doing nothing for those underneath the slip.
And the Whangarei Tim you tube news item showed a lily white council worker, not iwi, explaining the trees shoring up the slip site had to be cut down in case they damaged the buried pipi shells.
Why are spin doctors constantly stirring up Maori bullshit?
It’s not to distract Kiwis attention away from the white fraudsters and negligent white murderers is it?
Hear hear!
Too right!
All of it!
I’d like to express my appreciation for the local iwi, for without them I would be lost and I would be floundering around not knowing what to do with my life. As a filthy white colonial oppressor, the local iwi have saved me from my sin and now I can bask the reflected mana snd aroha of the tangata whenua’s grace.
Wait for it. The last poor victim of this tragedy has been formally identified as Jackie Wheeler and her family’s statement will acknowledge, appreciate or thank the local iwi. Bet on it.
There can be only one acknowledgement and that is that the local iwi is directly responsible for the tragic loss of life. The corruption and collaboration of the TCC is glaring. This is a criminal matter!
