Peters criticises Luxon leadership vote as destabilising and poorly handled

Peters speaks out on Luxon leadership vote

Winston Peters says he should have been informed in advance of Christopher Luxon’s leadership confidence vote, arguing the move breached the spirit of the coalition’s “no surprises” agreement and risked undermining stability.

Speaking to state media he described the vote as unprecedented for a sitting prime minister and warned it could trigger further leadership challenges if polling worsens, adding that National needed to focus on governing rather than internal tensions.

While Peters said the coalition would remain intact, he noted any leadership upheaval would require adjustments.

Nicola Willis pushed back, insisting the caucus strongly backed Luxon and accusing Peters of stirring trouble, while Labour criticised the situation as internal infighting distracting from key issues like the cost of living.

  1. Great lessons to learn for minor parties in election year – don’t be nice. Keep “stirring trouble”

The easiest way to get 5% of the vote is to keep seriously pissing off the other 95%

  2. Luxon the Globalist doing sneaky things again, Peters pointing out the protocol, Willis accusing Peters of stirring up trouble. Labour pointing out the cost of living as though it is National’s fault and not the Labour Vaccine Ministers. Both major parties are full of professional grifters and parasites and need a good clean out.

  3. Yes Labour want to solve the cost of living crisis by making it more costly with yet more taxes. You see its not “your” cost of living they care about, its “theirs” while they are in office enjoying the “good life”.

As for you National you have abjectly failed to do anything meaningful to make peoples lives even a inch better. Still, watch as people make excuses and vote either you or the other globalists back in, so you can finish us off. Well, those of us who haven’t yet fled the country in horror.

  4. If Winston died tomorrow would that breach the spirit of the no surprises coalition agreement?

The reality is that when Winston dies his own political party will die with him.
