Newly released police documents allege former Justice Minister Kiri Allan was verbally abusive, resistant, and accused police of staging a “political stunt” during her 2023 arrest for suspected drink-driving.
The incident followed a car crash in Wellington on July 23, where Allan allegedly refused to initially comply with officers, claimed she wasn’t the driver, resisted arrest, and insisted the court summons should “disappear.”
Officers also said she stated, “I wrote the law,” during transport to the station. She later tested above the legal breath alcohol limit and was fined $300 for careless driving, with reparation of over $5000 and a conviction for refusing to accompany.
The allegations, revealed in legacy media following a year-long battle for information and the Ombudsman’s intervention, paint a picture of a chaotic and confrontational arrest.
It should be in jail.

You can’t make up that sh*t. How do these people live? How do family, colleagues, friends live with that? This is/was a Minister of JUSTICE!
From memory, that thoroughly corrupt DOG that is Judith Collins was also Justice minister. And let’s not forget, we’re still waiting to hear what “objectionable” (i.e. illegal) pornography that deputy top cop had on his PC.

Just as everyone thought BUT did she know the person whos car she ran into? We think she did.
Why was she not charged with impaired driving ???. She was responsible for the damages not insurance co. Or us .
This is a massive abuse of justice and a cover up.
